Manchester United: Fans react as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer grows frustrated at transfers

Manchester United have only made one transfer so far this transfer window, and it was a very good one as highly rated Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek joined the club from Ajax.

However there seems to be a growing frustration from a lot of supporters of the club that there have not been more signings, especially when it seems like the news on their pursuit on the possible signing of Jadon Sancho varies from positive to negative on a daily basis.

According to Rob Dawson, who works at ESPN, and tweeted out by utdreport, Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems to now be in the same boat as supporters of the club. He has been largely accepting of the financial implications that recent events have caused but now he is starting to become annoyed and impatient that deals he thought would happen have not materialised.

With their Premier League season getting underway as they play Crystal Palace at the weekend, all associated with the club will not want any rifts because it could affect the campaign, and hopefully Ed Woodward starts to bring in some more signings to please the manager and the fan base shortly.

Newcastle United: Journalist reveals what Mohammed bin Salman has said about takeover

An Inside Arabia journalist has revealed what the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) crown prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) has said about his attempt to take over Newcastle United.

As per the writer, MBS is looking for an affordable deal in a time of economic downturn following the global pandemic outbreak, as his Public Investment Fund (PIF) have already agreed a £300 million price with Mike Ashley.

He has also apparently looked at the opportunity to buy Manchester United, but has decided that the Magpies are the club that he would like to purchase, as he thinks that the takeover of the Tyneside club would be more feasible and easier to push through.

However, the bid has been delayed by various obstacles in recent weeks that has meant that the whole process has been delayed, complicated further by Project Restart.

The Premier League are yet to decide as to whether they will approve of the prospective takeover, as they have insisted that the buying side must pass their Owners’ and Directors’ Test (ODT) in order to have any chance of approving the bid.

Yet they have arguably been too busy making sure that the top flight has been resuming smoothly and so have not been able to deal with the takeover, partly causing the delay.

There have also been various oppositions to the bid, but the members of the Toon faithful will be hoping that they are brushed aside.

Nevertheless, MBS seems to believe that a deal could be pushed through, but only time will tell.

Spurs fans react to major Eric Dier contract update

After being in and out of the Tottenham side for the first-half of this season, Eric Dier has firmly established himself as a key part of Jose Mourinho’s starting eleven.

The England international has been redeployed as a centre-back by the Spurs boss since the Premier League’s restart, and had completed the full 90 minutes in the north London side’s opening four top-flight games.

But with his contract set to expire in the summer of 2021, Dier’s long-term future has been up for debate. And now, according to The Daily Mail, the Spurs man has left the club in shock after demanding “at least double his current salary”.

The report claims that the versatile ace wants to stay in north London given his relationship with Mourinho, but that Daniel Levy “has been taken aback by Dier’s expectation of a wage more than double the £60,000-a-week he currently earns”.

And after hearing about the latest update on his future, Spurs fans flocked to Twitter to share their reactions.

A few Spurs fans couldn’t quite believe how Dier has the nerve to ask for a substantial pay rise, and questioned how someone who hasn’t played that much over the past couple of seasons could demand a new deal.

Some Spurs fans suggested that they have had enough of Dier, and urged the club to get rid of him, with one supporter even claiming that he “shouldn’t even be in the PL”.

One Spurs fan went a step further by calling on Dier to take Mourinho with him.

With all the financial problems posed by the current situation surrounding the world, what may have potentially been a reasonable demand last summer, feels far more difficult now.

If Mourinho sees Dier as an integral part of his first-team, then it’s up to Levy to sanction a new contract for him and provide his manager with the backing.

Paying way more than £100k-a-week for a player to just sit on the bench, or as just a rotation piece, just doesn’t sit so well.

Liverpool fans swoon over Jordan Henderson

The Liverpool faithful have been raving about their captain Jordan Henderson this week after one Twitter account asked fans to describe the Englishman using only one word.

There was everything ranging from “champion” to “irreplaceable” to “underrated.”

Henderson has been an integral part of Jurgen Klopp’s side since taking the reins from legend Steven Gerrard, and he finally got his rewards in lifting the Champions League trophy at the end of last season. The Premier League triumph is next up.

The 29-year-old has played 35 times in all competitions this season, taking his total tally for the Reds to a whopping 359 appearances.

In that time, he has scored 28 goals and provided 50 assists, although such a contribution is arguably not the focal point of his industrious game.

Per WhoScored, Henderson is averaging 2.2 tackles, four long balls and 62.4 passes per game in the Premier League this term.

The 55-cap midfielder is now valued at £25.2m by Transfermarkt, 13th in the current Liverpool squad, so maybe there’s a case to be made of him being underrated.

Here’s how the supporters have been describing him…

Quiz: Name Leeds United’s top league goalscorer for each of the last 15 seasons

Leeds United have enjoyed a stellar 2019/20 season and currently sit top of the Championship table with nine matches to play.

The Yorkshire club have a seven-point advantage over Fulham in third place and after marginally missing out on promotion back to the Premier League in Marcelo Bielsa’s first season at the club last year, they are in the driving seat to secure a return to the top flight after 16 years away.

The unavoidable hiatus has somewhat thrown their progress into jeopardy, although news about the return of the Premier League will provide welcome news for Championship clubs.

To celebrate their potential return, we have created a quiz that should test the knowledge of even the biggest Leeds fans, with the challenge to name each of their top goalscorers from the last 15 seasons.

Tottenham Hotspur fans are missing Michael Dawson

Tottenham Hotspur are really going through some tough times over in the Premier League.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men are currently sitting 14th in the table with no clear signs of anything changing for the better any time soon.

Not to mention that they haven’t won in the league since September – against Southampton – and haven’t won away from home since January, which makes their dire situation look that much worse.

And today should really be a joyous day for many of them as one of their legends, Michael Dawson, is celebrating his birthday.

The now 36-year-old defender is currently playing for Nottingham Forest but has recorded 324 games in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt, even scoring ten goals and assisting a further five in the process.

Upon hearing about his birthday, many Spurs fans actually started feeling nostalgic and stated how they wished he was still at their club since they could use his passion and commitment.

Some even requested his return altogether while others were just showering him with some praise.

Ian Doyle suggests Sterling is perfect for Klopp

Manchester City star Raheem Sterling has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent days.Last month, the flying winger admitted that Liverpool are “always in my heart”, and those comments appear to have prompted speculation linking him with a stunning return to Anfield.

Indeed, French media outlet L’Equipe have claimed that a move for Sterling cannot be ruled out amid Real Madrid’s rising interest in Sadio Mane.

It seems incredibly unlikely that a move would ever materialise, but there are bound to be some supporters, journalists and pundits out there who want to see the mooted switch go through.

And Ian Doyle, who is the chief Liverpool FC writer for the Liverpool Echo, has offered his verdict amid the rising speculation.

Here’s what he had to say on Twitter.

In response to a fan who suggested that Sterling is not suited to Klopp’s style, Doyle suggested that the £144m-valued star, per Transfermarkt, is the definition of a Klopp player.

Given Sterling is capable of slotting in anywhere across Liverpool’s forward line, is a relentlessly hard worker, and, above all, an incredibly talented footballer, there’s no doubt that Klopp would relish the opportunity to work with the England international.

Whether that will ever emerge as a genuine possibility, however, remains to be seen.

Freddie Ljungberg’s threat to Unai Emery is being blown out of proportion

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Opinion series, which provides analysis, insight and opinion on any issue within the beautiful game, from Paul Pogba’s haircuts to League Two relegation battles…

Unai Emery is a man under serious pressure at Arsenal, with plenty of small issues being used as a stick to beat the Spaniard with, as many look for reasons why he should be dismissed.

An article by football.london takes a look at some of the valid problems he is currently dealing with, such as the lack of trust fans have in him and his struggles with the English language.

However, within the latter point, it is mentioned that some young players are gravitating towards assistant manager Freddie Ljungberg, with it being implied that this is down to Emery’s shortcomings.

It can be said that this is taking things out of proportion though, as it is likely this has always been a part of the former winger’s role with the first-team, rather than something that should concern Emery.

The 42-year-old spent last season with the Gunners’ U23s, as per Transfermarkt, meaning he will be a familiar and trusted face for many of those who are new to the first-team fold.

Therefore, one of the clear benefits of having the Swede working alongside Emery is that he will be able to help those very players settle in.

If anything this makes Ljungberg somebody who is valuable to Emery, rather than an addition to the Spaniard’s long list of current concerns.

Liverpool fans want to see Jadon Sancho join the club

Liverpool fans have expressed their admiration for Jadon Sancho and pleaded for their the club to sign the 19-year-old sensation. This comes after reports emerged from the Daily Mail stating that Liverpool are amongst the many clubs keeping an eye on the winger.

Sancho is reportedly prepared to leave Borussia Dortmund not long after the club prepared for his exit in August. Now, with Liverpool the latest club to show interest in the young star, fans are hoping that he puts pen to paper on a deal with the Merseysiders.

One fan has said he would be the “ultimate competition” for the Reds’ breathtaking front three right now. Another supporter also stated he should be the “no.1 target” for the club in the summer.

Sancho has already established himself not just as a future superstar, but as one of the best around right now.

His five assists and three goals in just nine league games in Germany prove his mesmerising talent is only increasing. Last season, the Englishman really put himself amongst the best as he provided 14 assists and scored 12 times for Dortmund in the Bundesliga.

The £90m-rated star will, of course, be up against arguably the most fierce competition in Europe should he join the Reds. Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have all been undroppable for the past year, and Sancho will have to put up a strong argument for his spot against them.

However, many Liverpool fans want to see him join the madness at Anfield anyway…

Barcelona might not need Neymar anymore with Ansu Fati’s emergence

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Opinion series, which provides analysis, insight and opinion on any issue within the beautiful game, from Paul Pogba’s haircuts to League Two relegation battles…

It seems that the transfer saga of Neymar Junior to Barcelona is not yet at its end.

On the contrary, reports from Mundo Deportivo state that the Brazilian’s name is still very much on Blaugrana’s minds and even though it is highly unlikely they will go for him in January, next summer could see them return for their man.

But the situation is still difficult, as the same source points out, since PSG are not really planning to let go of their prized possession.

Interestingly enough, however, there might be another twist in this story that could turn the whole operation upside down.

As Mundo Deportivo have also revealed, the recent emergence of Barcelona’s prodigious talent, Ansu Fati, could put the whole Neymar transfer into jeopardy.

It’s a rather straightforward equation – Neymar’s arrival could potentially block Fati’s development and Barcelona obviously have big plans for the crown jewel of La Masia in the future.

Watch Lionel Messi and Gareth Bale answer the internet’s weirdest questions in the video below…

Not to mention the potential finances the transfer would demand and the fact that not all board members seem to be in unison about the Brazilian’s return to the Catalan capital.

For those reasons, Fati might be Barcelona’s unlikely saviour and could yield them a surprising positive.

Of course, just his talents alone have given the fans a look into the future but seeing how re-signing Neymar doesn’t really make much sense in the first place and from multiple aforementioned angles, Fati’s emergence might save them the trouble.

It’s difficult to say that this will definitely prevent Barcelona from chasing Neymar in the not so distant future but it is already casting doubt over the deal, and that’s a big positive for the Blaugrana.
