Brendan Taylor, the Zimbabwe captain, will play in the Bangladesh Premier League after signing up with Chittagong Kings.”We have just signed for Brendan to join the Chittagong Kings for the last three games and the finals in the BPL,” Taylor’s agent said. “The deal was negotiated directly by us with the owner and CEO, Sameer Quader Chowdhury, of the Chittagong Kings.”Chittagong are currently in third place, with eight points, two behind joint leaders, Khulna Royal Bengals and Duronto Rajshahi.Taylor has played 54 Twenty20s, averaging 31 at a strike-rate of 122.04. He recently played in New Zealand’s domestic Twenty20 league, and smashed a career-best 101 for Wellington.

كشفت تقارير صحفية عن موقف أحمد حجازي مدافع فريق اتحاد جدة من المشاركة في مباراة النصر المقبلة ضمن منافسات الدوري السعودي.

ويلتقي اتحاد جدة أمام النصر مساء الخميس، على ملعب مدينة الملك عبد الله الرياضية، في الجولة 20 من منافسات المسابقة السعودية.

وأفادت صحيفة “الرياضية” السعودية، أن أحمد حجازي تعافى من الإصابة العضلية التي كان يعاني منها خلال الأيام الماضية.

Ryan Harris believes he will struggle to force his way into Australia’s side for the first Test against West Indies in Barbados next month. Australia’s Test specialists, including Harris and his fast-bowling colleague Peter Siddle, have flown out to join the rest of the squad in the Caribbean for a three-day tour match ahead of the Test series.The warm-up game will help the selectors decide on their best attack for the Bridgetown Test, and a three-man pace attack of Ben Hilfenhaus, Peter Siddle and James Pattinson appears likely after their success in the home summer. Harris and Mitchell Starc are the other fast bowlers in the squad, while the spinners Nathan Lyon and Michael Beer will come into contention on the slow Caribbean pitches.Harris played in the last two Tests of Australia’s series against India after Pattinson was sidelined by injury but he was dropped from the ODI side in the tri-series that followed. A year ago, Harris was arguably Australia’s best Test bowler but he believes he will be on the sidelines for the start of the upcoming Test series.”I don’t think I will be starting,” Harris told reporters in Brisbane before departing. “Sidds had an amazing summer and so did Jimmy [Pattinson]. The only reason I got a game was because Jimmy went down. And Hilf has come back to his best. If those three don’t start, I will be in shock. They did such a good job against India this summer for us – they thoroughly deserve their spots over there.”Before he flew out to join the squad, Australia’s captain Michael Clarke mentioned the possibility of playing both Lyon and Beer in a two-man spin attack, which is another option for the selectors. No duelo nordestino do final de semana, Ceará e Vitória se enfrentaram na Arena Castelão neste sábado. Depois de começar a rodada na zona de rebaixamento, o time da casa garantiu o triunfo e subiu na tabela de classificação, saindo da zona da degola, no mínimo, até o domingo.

O jogo

Desde o início do confronto, o Ceará partiu pra cima do adversário. Pecando nas finalizações, a equipe da casa demorou a abrir o placar.

Aos 16, Juninho Quixadá quase conseguiu um belo gol no Castelão. Após driblar Léo Gomes, o meia viu a bola passar muito perto do ângulo da meta de Ronaldo.

Os mesmos jogadores se envolveram em lance polêmico aos 25 da partida. Após Juninho chutar, a bola bateu no volante do Vitória dentro da área. Os jogadores do Ceará pediram pênalti no lance, mas o juiz mandou seguir a partida.

Logo na sequência, o time da casa conseguiu chegar ao primeiro gol no jogo. Em lance individual, Samuel Xavier invadiu a área e cruzou a bola em direção à meta adversária. Calyson, no caminho, completou de barriga para balançar as redes adversárias.

Ainda na primeira etapa, o Ceará quase ampliou o placar. Dentro da área, Leandro Carvalho recebeu cruzamento de cara para o gol e de forma inacreditável jogou a bola para fora.

Apesar do erro, não demorou muito para o lateral compensar a jogada. Poucos minutos após a volta do intervalo, ele recebeu novamente dentro da área e desta vez não desperdiçou: em belo chute, a bola beijou o travessão e morreu dentro do gol, deixando 2 a 0 para o Ceará.

Ao longo da segunda etapa, o jogo ficou equilibrado, com as duas equipes se alternando em boas oportunidades. Pelo lado do Vitória,
Léo Ceará quase diminuiu a desvantagem em chute de fora da área, mas a bola acabou encontrando o travessão após desvio de Éverson.

Enquanto isso, pelo time da casa, Arthur dominou a bola entre dois adversários e chutou forte de fora da área, vendo a bola parar no travessão da meta adversária.

A trave se mostrou inimiga das equipes no Castelão na tarde deste sábado e mais uma vez entrou em cena, mais uma vez pelo lado do Vitória. Depois de cobrança de escanteio, Fabiano cabeceou, carimbou o travessão e por pouco não marcou para a equipe rubro-negra.

A reta final da partida foi marcada por poucas chances para as duas equipes, concretizando o triunfo para o Ceará no confronto.

Suspended CSA chief executive Gerald Majola will know his fate by May 31. That is the timeframe the country’s sports minister, Fikile Mbalula, and CSA have agreed on for completion of Majola’s disciplinary hearing.The hearing concerns R4.7 million ($671,428) paid in unauthorised bonuses to CSA staff after the hosting of the IPL and Champions Trophy in 2009. Senior council John Myburgh will chair the disciplinary committee and an independent prosecutor will be appointed from the Bar Council for the proceedings.Majola was suspended in March after an independent commission of inquiry, convened on the order of Mbalula and chaired by Judge Chris Nicholson, recommended that Majola undergo a formal disciplinary process. CSA had not previously taken any such action against their chief executive despite internal and external investigations, which found that bonuses were paid without due procedure being followed.Majola was cautioned against violating corporate governance by the internal investigation, chaired by former president AK Khan, and severely reprimanded after an audit by KPMG and subsequent legal advice found that he had breached the Companies Act. The bonuses, which were awarded to 40 CSA staff members, were paid in addition to a payment that had already been made for extra work done during both those events and were not declared to the board.Importantly, Mbalula said all money that was awarded improperly will have to be paid back. “If there is anyone that received bonuses outside the ambit of the law and that was not properly declared, those people will be attended to,” Mbalula said, adding that it would include those who have since resigned from CSA. “Civil processes will be lodged for those who are outside CSA,” he said. “At the end of the day, the bonuses will have to be recovered.”CSA survived the meeting with the minister with its board intact, despite speculation in the local media that Mbalula would ask them to resign en masse. Mbalula revealed that he did not make any such request because the ministry was impressed with the steps the board had taken since the Nicholson report was made public. They suspended Majola and appointed an acting CEO, Jacques Faul. They also had a change of guard in the presidency post as Khan resigned and Willie Basson was appointed acting president.”We didn’t ask the board to resign because we made our own examination of things,” Mbalula said. “They have got an acting CEO and acting chairperson. To ask for the entirety of the board to resign, certain things would not have been done in terms of the Nicholson recommendations. If the board feels they have been part of the mess, they can’t avoid the mess. They must be part of the broomstick that cleans the mess.”The other recommendations Mbalula referred to was the restructuring of CSA’s board, proposed by Nicholson, which called for a smaller board with more independent directors. An eight-person steering committee was appointed in March, consisting of four board members and four outsiders, all of whom have been involved in cricket in some capacity, to discuss the restructure. That committee will now be added to, as members of the ministry and the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee will also be party to their meetings.The steering committee will go on a roadshow of the 11 provincial associations with their proposal, before presenting it to the national indaba on governance restructuring ahead of September’s AGM. A new board will be elected in September and Mbalula said it will remain up to CSA whether any of the current board members can stand again.CSA will also launch a transformation fund in May, which will serve the aim of developing the game in previously disadvantaged areas and communities. Basson is passionate about ensuring cricket reaches the majority of the South African population from grassroots level and was previously the transformation chairperson. “CSA has committed itself to the philosophy that transformation has to be advanced on the basis of a natural evolutionary process that will enable us to grow as a sport over the next 20 years,” Mbalula said.
