Speaking to GiveMeSport, Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge has shared his belief of when Tottenham Hotspur could potentially sack under-fire boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

After a terrible Premier League run of three big losses in his last three matches, humiliated by a trio of Tottenham’s London rivals in that time, the pressure is already well and truly on Nuno early in the season.

Despite a fine start to life at Spurs, even being named the English top flight’s manager of the month for August, reports have now come out of unrest among the Lilywhites squad, with comparisons even made to predecessor Jose Mourinho (The Independent).

Bridge has now shared his personal belief of when Tottenham could potentially axe the 47-year-old.

The Latest: Bridge drops Nuno sack belief…

Speaking to GiveMeSport, the reporter, knowing chairman Daniel Levy like he does, believes that Nuno could even go if the Lilywhites lose to Aston Villa on Sunday.

“I was talking to my colleague Dharmesh Sheth and I just said I think he’ll go if they lose to Villa and he went ‘you’re mad’. I’m not because it’s not just the defeats, they’re really bad defeats and they’re embarrassing,” the journalist explained.

“The stats, possession and everything – they’re bottom of everything. How can you be bottom of everything? They’re below Norwich in expected shots. It’s terrible.

“I just think maybe, knowing Levy like we do, he might have thought it’s a two-year deal, it’ll cost a couple of million but it hasn’t worked, I’ve got an idea.”

The Verdict: Too soon?

Little over six weeks since his Spurs side beat Premier League champions Manchester City on the opening day, few could have predicted the Portuguese to be in this position already.

Having worked wonders at former club Wolves, guiding them to successive seventh-placed finishes after their promotion from the Championship, the 47-year-old needs more backing at Tottenham despite not being the club’s first choice for the role.

It is far too early to start talking about replacements, not to mention that, going by Spurs’ last long and drawn-out managerial search, there is hardly an abundance of options waiting to jump in Nuno’s shoes.

أكد محمود جابر المدير الفني لمنتخب مصر للشباب 2003، أن البرتغالي روي فيتوريا المدير الفني للفراعنة الكبار لم يحدد أسماء الأربعة لاعبين الذين يرغب في ضمهم، وكشف سبب غياب ثلاث لاعبين أساسين عن بطولة كأس العرب.

وتأهل منتخب مصر للشباب لدور النصف نهائي من بطولة كأس العرب تحت 20 عامًا، بعدما فاز على المغرب بهدفين مقابل هدف.

وقال محمود جابر في تصريحات إذاعية عبر أثير راديو “ميجا إف إم”: “كان لدينا هدف منذ بداية البطولة، وكان لدينا بعض المعوقات قبل انطلاقها لأن موعدها جاء في فترة امتحانات نهاية العام، ونجحنا في التغلب على هذا الأمر في المعسكر الإعدادي”.

وتابع: “خضنا وديتين مع الإسماعيلي وطلائع الجيش، ومستوانا تطور خلال البطولة، وأتمنى أن يكون هناك تطور في المستوى خلال المباريات القادمة”.

وعن مباراة الجزائر في نصف النهائي قال: “ليس لدينا متسع من الوقت، المباراة بعد غدً، وحاليًا لدي تدريب والمجموعة التي لم تخض المباراة الماضية سيتدربون، والذين شاركوا في اللقاء سيقومون بعمل استشفاء، وبعد ذلك سنعقد محاضرة عقب المران، وغدًا سيكون مران خفيف لا يتعدى 30 أو 35 دقيقة”.

وأردف: “نحاول مشاهده فريق الجزائر مثلما هم يفعلون، ونحاول تحليل الفريق، ونتمنى التوفيق في المباراة”.

وبسؤاله عن رغبة روي فيتوريا في ضم 4 لاعبين للمنتخب الأول قال: “سمعت بالأمر وهو لم يحدد أسماء، واستخدمت هذا الموضوع كتحفيز للاعبين، وقلت لهم إن عدد 4 لاعبين قليل، وأنني أريد أن يقرر بعد المباراة القادمة زيادة العدد، وهذه الدورة فرصة لكم، وأنتم تعلنون عن أنفسكم والجميع يراكم”.

وواصل: “أعلم أن ناديي الأهلي والزمالك يتابعان اللاعبين المتواجدين معي، وأتمنى أن يشاركوا مع الفريق الأول حتى لو على فترات متباعدة، وفيريرا مهتم بهم، ومعي 4 لاعبين من الزمالك، منهم 3 يشاركون بشكل أساسي”.

وأضاف: “ومن الأهلي لاعب واحد، كان من المفترض أن يكون هناك لاعبان ولكن أصيب لاعب قبل البطولة، والمتواجد معي هو رأفت خليل ويؤدي بشكل أساسي، وهناك تشكيلة من معظم الأندية”.

وزاد: “هناك ثلاث لاعبين أساسين غائبين عن هذه البطولة، وهم أحمد شريف من فاركو لأنه يشارك في الدوري، كريم الديبيس من وادي دجلة وتقريبا لديه اختبار أو معايشة في الخارج، وأحمد رضا من دجلة لديه فترة إعداد”.

وأكد: “لدي عناصر جيدة، والأمر يتوقف عند تعاون الأندية معي، وأتمنى تعاونهم معي وأنا من المدربين المتعاونين مع الأندية”.

He was India’s coach for five years from November 2000 during which India won a historic series against Australia in 2001 at home, won in Pakistan in 2003, and also guided the team to the finals of the 2003 World cup.Wright, a former New Zealand batsman, also said that adapting to the way things work in India was a key factor in being a successful India coach. “You bring some ideas from outside India but there is also an understanding of how things are best handled and getting to know your players and keeping them contented and happy and confident and being able to correct them when they need to.”Wright, who is currently a New Zealand selector, was also glad the upcoming Test series was a three-match affair and not two, as was originally planned. New Zealand won the Twenty20s and India have sealed the one-dayers, and Wright felt the home side would have to play “right upto their potential” if they are going to put up a fight against India in the Tests.

O principal é o resgate da confiança e dessa entrega. Quando o atleta dá a vida, traz o torcedor, e a torcida está de parabéns por carregar o time nas mãos. Seria mais do que obrigação fazermos o que fizemos. Se não com organização, mas com entrega. Emocionalmente, esse empate terá um peso muito grande. Isso é mais importante do que a vitória, que tanto desejamos.

Dorival Júnior fez questão de ressaltar o Grêmio, que controlou a partida no primeiro tempo, para ressaltar a evolução são-paulina na volta do intervalo. O técnico abriu mão de Jucilei para encaixar a marcação com Cícero e exaltou a luta de Lucas Fernandes, autor do gol. Ele diz que agora não é hora, mas que seu time ainda atuará como a equipe de Renato Gaúcho.

– Enfrentamos uma da melhores equipes, com futebol clássico, bonito, difícil de marcar. Sonho de todo treinador é uma equipe agressiva. O exemplo do futebol brasileiro é o Grêmio. Análise do jogo

Enfrentamos uma da melhores equipes, com futebol clássico, bonito, difícil de marcar. O São Paulo busca identidade, tivemos um esforço acima do normal para buscarmos o resultado.

Sempre tive muita confiança no Renan. Fez uma grande partida. Em momentos decisivos, quando aparecem o trabalho dos zagueiros e do goleiro, é importante. É uma confiança voltando desde antes da minha chegada e é fundamental para o amadurecimento do Renan. É relativo se vou buscar outro goleiro. Nunca vou citar nomes ou carências em posições, procuro valorizar quem está aqui e que busque seu espaço. Isso faz a equipe se tornar mais competitiva e confiante. Queremos que readquiram confiança.

Troca para enfrentar o Botafogo
Se não mantiver grupo, não consegue ver o que corrigir ou manter. Se eu mudar a todo momento, vão dizer que estou perdido. Procuro dar sequência e condição para que sejam corrigidas situações que estão sendo pontuadas e levam um tempo para ser minimizadas. Poucas mexidas, porém, um ou outro, com relação a posicionamento.

Legado do jogo
Seria fundamental vencermos, mas, pelo que foi o jogo, vimos uma entrega muito grande. Se existem falham na marcação, para encaixar rapidamente, pelo outro lado, a maneira que enfrentamos uma equipe tão qualificada. Você tem que abrir mão da parte tática, posicionamento e jogar com vida e coração, como nos entregamos para buscar o resultado. O principal é o resgate da confiança e dessa entrega. Quem busca isso é só o atleta. Quando se entrega, dá a vida, acontece isso, trazendo torcedor para o nosso lado. A torcida está de parabéns pelo exemplo, carregando o time nas mãos, levando junto para a recuperação. Seria mais do que obrigação fazermos o que fizemos. Se não com organização, mas com a entrega que houve. É mais um detalhe importante na recuperação da equipe. Queríamos a vitória, mas, emocionalmente, esse empate terá um peso muito grande. Isso é mais importante do que a vitória, que tanto desejamos.

Reforços
Ainda não tenho resultados dos testes realizados com Hernanes e Marcos Guilherme. Com Aderllan e Maicosuel, ainda é muito cedo, vêm de uma nova pré-temporada.

Grêmio
Sonho de todo treinador é uma equipe agressiva. O exemplo do futebol brasileiro é o Grêmio, o Santos de uns meses atrás e de 2010 e de algumas outras equipes que jogavam futebol, acima de tudo, agressivo, mas com posse de bola. Isso quebra e muito o sentido de marcação de qualquer equipe. Jogadores com mobilidade e confiança tal que jogadas saem com naturalidade. Uma hora, o São Paulo vai jogar assim, com certeza.

Lucas Fernandes
Lucas vem conquistando espaço que é dele e, aos poucos, vai preencher para ser uma das grandes surpresas da competição. Vamos prepará-lo. Jogou em cima de lesão, logo na primeira falta, mas foi guerreiro e se manteve em campo. O torcedor contribuiu. Mesmo machucado, o jogador ficou em campo e fez o gol mesmo com problema muscular. É um ganho mais importante do que uma vitória. Ele teve lesão na primeira batida dele.

Pretensões nas próximas rodadas
A nossa realidade é pontuar a cada rodada. Se vamos ficar mais uma, duas ou três rodadas na zona de rebaixamento, mas pontuando, não vejo problema. Problema seria não pontuar, como vinha acontecendo. Ainda existe oscilação, a equipe ainda não entrou na fase de ganho técnico, mas, no momento que adquirir confiança maior, vai adquirir crescimento rápido. Se adquirir esse espírito, estaremos muito próximos de uma melhora.

Hernanes
Hernanes já vinha desenvolvendo uma função mais ofensiva na Lazio e veio em crescente, talvez abdicado de funções mais defensivas no meio-campo. Podemos trabalhar com dois meias, com um ou outro, vamos deixar trabalhar para analisar.

Substituição de Jucilei
Troca com Jucilei foi apenas tática, tentei mudar o meio-campo, preenchendo mais, aproximando do Grêmio, abri mão de volante mais fixo, segurando Petros e liberando meias para encostassem na frente. Jucilei tem condições de atuar na próxima rodada.

An update has emerged on Celtic defender Greg Taylor, regarding his future at Parkhead under Ange Postecoglou.

What’s the talk?

According to the Daily Record, Celtic are in talks with the left-back over a contract extension for the defender, with his current deal due to expire in 2023.

The report claims he could put pen to paper on a two or three-year extension that comes with a wage increase to reward him for his performances on the pitch.

This fresh development on Taylor will surely leave Celtic fans feeling delighted as a new contract would secure the player’s long-term future at the club.

Taylor may not have been a fan favourite in the early parts of his Celtic career, drawing criticism from some supporters at the start of the 2020/21 campaign, but he has improved over the course of the past 12 months or so and has established himself as a key player.

He averaged a SofaScore rating of 6.97 in the Scottish Premiership last season, losing 47% of his ground duels on the pitch. However, he has shown visible signs of progress this term, averaging an exceptional rating of 7.15 and winning 77% of his ground duels in the Premiership.

The £8.2k-per-week beast was lauded by some fans for his performance against Jablonec earlier this season and he’s also earned praise from James McFadden, with the former Scotland international hailing him earlier in 2021. He said:

“Greg Taylor, for me, has been brilliant since coming back into the side. He offers so much more down that left-hand side than Diego Laxalt because he’s got that a final pass.

“That was a brilliant pass into Edouard. He picks him out really well and there’s good pace on it. It allows Edouard to do his stuff.”This shows that he has gone from being a player some fans were less than pleased with to one who they could get excited about staying at the club. His statistical improvement in the league suggests that he is on an upwards trend and, at the age of 23, there could be more to come from Taylor under Postecoglou.Consequently, keeping him at the club for the long-term should come as a huge boost to the manager. That’s especially when you consider their problems at left-back where Taylor remains the only consistent option ahead of the lesser-spotted Boli Bolingoli and teenager Adam Montgomery.Therefore, supporters could be delighted with this news that he is in talks over a new deal. If the club can get it over the line then it could be a boost to the long-term future of the club, as Taylor could be the first-choice number three for many years to come.

However, he may return if there are injuries to other members of the team.The other six players who are returning to India are Dinesh Salunkhe, Paras Dogra, Anup Revandkar, Srideep Mangela, Ashraf Makda and Azhar Malik. Salunkhe was the legspinner who was included in the 2008 squad through a TV talent-hunt show.Kaif was Rajasthan Royals’ most expensive buy at $675,000 during the first auction in 2008. He played all 16 matches in Rajasthan’s victorious campaign in the inaugural IPL but scored only 176 runs at an average of 16.”It has always been a target to pick a final squad of 17-18 players, and this year we have an even stronger squad than last year,” Manoj Badale, the owner of the franchise said. “It is disappointing to have to let go of any players, as they are all stars in our view. Much of the attention will focus on Mohammed Kaif, who has been a key part of our success to date – not just as a batsman, but as a role model for our younger Indian players. He has been extremely supportive of the decision, which says a lot about him as a person. Injuries and new conditions mean that the player’s participation later in the tournament is not ruled out.”

Leeds United defensive midfielder Kalvin Phillips has faced speculation over his future in recent weeks as Manchester United reportedly circle around him ahead of January.

The Red Devils are in the market for a holding player and have identified Phillips as an alternative target to West Ham’s Declan Rice, although it remains to be seen how much money they are willing to spend on the Yorkshireman.

Football Insider recently reported that Phillips wants to put pen to paper on a contract extension with Leeds and is in advanced talks with the club over a deal. The Whites want it to be signed and sealed before the opening of the January window, which could see him remain at Elland Road until the end of the season at least.

Whether it comes in January or next summer, Phillips may leave Leeds at some point in the future, given the interest in his signature, and this could leave Victor Orta and Marcelo Bielsa scrambling around to find a replacement.

Bielsa, however, could save Orta a job, as well as millions of pounds, by unleashing academy midfielder Lewis Bate in the first team. The 18-year-old joined from Chelsea’s U23 side in the summer and could be the natural successor to Phillips at Elland Road if he is able to fulfil his potential.

Bate has been capped ten times by England at various youth levels and recently earned praise from Bielsa, who said the youngster can “thread it through a needle” when speaking about his passing ability.

MRKT Insights co-founder Ram Srinivas also compared the youngster to Phillips and highlighted his key strengths as a footballer. He said:

“Bate is a well-rounded deep-lying midfielder; he’s well capable of helping a team control possession, acting as a metronome to keep things ticking over as well as being very productive in build-up. He’s very positive in his passing and shows good awareness of the spaces opening up around him and team shape, which helps his team play out of a press and also attack the opposition in transition.

Srinivas added: “All in all he’s just a multi-faceted midfielder whose biggest weakness is probably just his size but he more than makes up for it with his other qualities. He’s very well-suited to Bielsa-ball and probably capable of serving as an understudy to Kalvin Phillips.”

This, along with Bielsa’s willingness to hail Bate’s quality, suggests that Leeds could have a very promising central midfielder in their U23 squad.

Therefore, Bate could end up saving the club millions of pounds by making the step up and replacing Phillips, leaving Orta with no need to sign a replacement.

However, it all comes down to Bielsa and how he handles the situation. The Argentine coach will need to unleash Bate in the Premier League and offer him a chance to show what he can do at senior level, whilst working with him on the training pitch to ensure he knows Bielsa-ball inside and out. If he can do that, then Orta may put the chequebook away…
