West Brom manager Valerien Ismael has hinted that striker Kenneth Zohore could stay at the club beyond this summer, having impressed of late.

The Lowdown: Zohore sent out on loan

The Baggies were relegated from the Premier League last season, but one player who played no part in their struggles was Zohore.

The 27-year-old spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at Millwall, but he didn’t impress overall, scoring just twice in 17 Championship appearances.

The Latest: Striker could stay put

Zohore has arguably been expected to leave West Brom this summer, but speaking to Birmingham Live, Ismael has suggested that the attacker may be given another chance to prove his worth:

“Ken I have to say, over the last two weeks, has raised his intensity for sure.

“At the beginning we had some concerns about whether he can play at that intensity and buy in, but the last two weeks and the game against Birmingham show that we are on the right way with him.

“Strikers of that type you will need in the Championship, he can help us. He can score goals. He has the quality and he is part of the process.

“It’s up to him now to put the performances in on the pitch. My job, with the staff, is to make sure that he has the clarity in his head to know exactly what he has to do. I hope he can confirm what we have seen over the last two weeks.”

The Verdict: New signing still needed

If Zohore does end up staying with the Baggies, it is vital that another striker is brought in, regardless of the Dane’s future.

They have been linked with moves for the likes of Daryl Dike and Andre Gray, and the former in particular would represent an upgrade on current options having shone on loan for Ismael at Barnsley.

Zohore has shown that he is not good enough to lead the line regularly for a Championship side, and while Karlan Grant is also ahead of him in the pecking order, more depth is required.

وتحدث كلوب مع المدير الرياضي الجديد، جوليان وارد، من أجل التحرك للتعاقد مع بيلينجهام ولكن في الصيف المقبل نظرًا للأموال التي أنفقها ليفربول حتى الآن.

كلوب معجب بموهبة إنجلترا خاصة بعد تألقه مع بوروسيا دورتموند في الموسم الماضي، لأن بيلينجهام لاعب متعدد المراكز وسيساعد المدرب الألماني بمرونته التكتيكية مع ليفربول.

O São Paulo realizou na tarde deste domingo, no CT da Barra Funda, um treino fechado para enfrentar o Avaí e já iniciou a concentração. Ceni não deu pistas da escalação na última semana. É possível que repita a formação usada no Mineirão, no 3-4-2-1: Renan Ribeiro; Militão, Maicon e Rodrigo Caio; Thiago Mendes, Jucilei, João Schmidt e Junior Tavares; Marcinho e Cueva; Pratto.

Carlton Palmer reckons that Wilfried Zaha leaving late in the window could leave Crystal Palace in serious trouble.

For the umpteenth summer on the bounce, Zaha’s Palace future is in doubt, with transfer insider Dean Jones claiming Tottenham are looking at the player as they consider pinching him away from Selhurst Park.

However, with less than two weeks until the window closes, Zaha remains a Crystal Palace player, and the speculation doesn’t appear to have affected him following a productive pre-season campaign.

Patrick Vieira has already bolstered his defence, although the Eagles manager is yet to add any attackers to his squad, meaning Zaha is likely to lead the way in terms of goals and assists once again.

Christian Benteke has been signed up once again, but Ebere Eze is still out with a long-term injury, and Palmer thinks that selling Zaha before the deadline would leave Vieira’s team in a difficult situation.

He exclusively told The Transfer Tavern:

“Anybody who loses a player so late in the window, who’s important to them, is a huge, huge blow and with Crystal Palace not replacing him as it seems at the moment, they would be in serious trouble.”

What’s the word?

According to renowned Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the 33-year-old winger wants to leave the north London giants and is tempted by an offer from Brazilian outfit Corinthians.

“Corinthians have made an official bid to Willian, confirmed. He wants to leave Arsenal since May and he’s now considering Corinthians proposal,” he tweeted.

“Willian has never been in talks with Al Ahli – priority still to European clubs, but Corinthians are now pushing.”

He then added: “Corinthians proposal for Willian is on the table and 100% confirmed. He’s ready to leave the club and he’s tempted – Willian gives priority to European clubs but Corinthians have “huge chances”.”

“Arsenal will let him leave on a free transfer in order to save his salary.”

If last season’s shocking returns weren’t evident, it’s clear that the former Chelsea star has no future at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners’ campaign has gotten off to the worst possible start, recording back-to-back league defeats against newly-promoted Brentford and arch-rivals Chelsea.

And Willian has not been involved in the matchday squad for either.

That should come as no surprise though as he failed to deliver in 2020/21. After joining on a free transfer with wages in the region of an eye-watering £220k-per-week, the veteran midfielder scored just once across 37 appearances in all competitions and provided only two assists in the league in 2021, via Transfermarkt.

Furthermore, his 6.65 average WhoScored rating for the season was among the three worst players to start 15 or more league matches.

It’s no wonder that much of the Gunners faithful were demanding the club sell him this window throughout pre-season, especially after images emerged over his fitness.

Meanwhile, in response to Romano’s claims, many were elated. For example, one described it as the “best news ever for Arsenal”, whilst others pleaded that it was true, as relayed by The Boot Room.

Understandably so, though. Willian is one of the top earners at the club, yet he is just not justifying his wages and there is no bigger waste than not having a player on £220k-per-week involved every week.

He’s merely burning a hole in KSE’s pocket right now and that could impact the remainder of the window, if not in January.

Therefore, this update will undoubtedly leave several sections of the Emirates fanbase absolutely delighted.

They were among the 32 players named in a provisional Stanford Superstars squad to face England in the Stanford 20/20 for 20, a winner-take-all US$20 million match on November 1.Donald Peters, the chief executive of the West Indies board (WICB), confirmed the news and said action would be taken after advice from the attorneys. “They [the attorneys] are looking into the matter and will advise us on the course of action,” Peters told Cricinfo. “WICB has a zero-tolerance policy on drugs and the matter could come up to the disciplinary committee. We are looking at a time frame of two weeks.”Peters said that the board will take action, if any, on Marshall, as he is a centrally-contracted player, and would let Leewards handle Willett. Marshall was withdrawn from the Stanford squad on September 16 for undisclosed reasons.The drug tests on the Stanford Superstars were carried out by the Caribbean Regional Anti-Doping Organisation (RADO) agency. “We did the drug tests and there were two adverse analytical findings – which is the equivalent to two positive tests,” Dr Adrian Lorde, the chairman of the Caribbean Rado, had told .”We can’t reveal the nature of the substance they tested positive for,” an official with Stanford said.
