Monk has been in charge at Hillsborough since September 2019, replacing Steve Bruce several months after his departure to Newcastle United.

In 57 matches at the helm, the former Swansea and Leeds man has guided the south Yorkshire outfit to just 19 wins, averaging 1.23 points per game, via Transfermarkt.

That’s a win percentage of just 33.3%, which is currently worse than Dave Jones (35.8%) and Stuart Gray (38.24%), and is the same as Jos Luhukay, as per YorkshireLive.

As Kirkland says, a few more poor results and it could bring chairman Dejphon Chansiri to make the major call in sacking his man, with the international break on the horizon, there may not be a better opportunity to do so.

Carlo Ancelotti can end the Goodison Park career of Everton product Tom Davies with a swoop for Atalanta BC’s lethal and highly sought-after midfield goal machine Ruslan Malinovskyi.

What’s the word?

According to Calciomercato, Ancelotti is eagerly scouting the Italian market for midfield reinforcements ahead of the winter market and has set his eyes on the potential availability of Malinovskyi following his stellar form with his Serie A side Atalanta.

Malinovskyi has torn up the Italian scene since moving to the Gewiss Stadium in 2019 for €13.7million (£12.2m), with the 27-year-old boasting nine goals and nine assists across all competitions, including a hand in 13 top-flight efforts last term.

The Ukraine star is yet to strike home his first of the current campaign, having started three of seven appearances, but penned his sixth international goal in UEFA Nations League defeat to Germany last month before earning his 32nd-cap at the Red Bull Arena on Saturday.

His form, and ability to play anywhere along the spine of a side, appears to have caught Everton and Leicester City’s attention, though the Premier League duo could face added competition from Inter Milan in Atalanta’s £18.9m-rated gem.

Malinovskyi has previously been a target for Chelsea, Leeds United, West Ham, Fiorentina and SSC Napoli, as well, with Blues legend Claude Makelele leading the Stamford Bridge outfit’s interest having filed a glowing report upon personally scouting the midfielder.

Davies’ Goodison nightmare

Atalanta are unlikely to want to part ways with their star midfielder just a year-and-a-half on from his arrival, so Everton could face a lot of reluctance should their Director of Football Marcel Brands open discussions with the Serie A side.

Ancelotti can deal Davies a grave nightmare by landing Malinovskyi, though, as there will be no doubt in the Ukraine international being an instant upgrade on the Toffees product.

Malinovskyi has never hidden his admiration for the Premier League or dream of one day playing in the English top-flight, stating amid the links with Chelsea last year how he would not rule out leaving the Gewiss Stadium.

“For England, I can say that we played some games there with Atalanta and the atmosphere is wonderful,” he told the Ukrainian FA’s YouTube account via quotes by Football Italia. “I like the Premier League, but it’s not worth talking about it. There are no conditions at the moment.”

But things can change fast, and Malinovskyi’s performances are right to attract an array of suitors, having offered 1.3 shots, 2.0 key balls, 1.7 successful dribbles, 4.0 duels won and 0.9 tackles as a right-sided central midfielder per Serie A game this season, per SofaScore.

His debut campaign with Atalanta last term similarly featured 1.7 shots, 1.4 key balls, 1.7 successful dribbles and 4.2 duels won, showing his initial form was not just a flash in the pan upon his arrival from a 16-goal, 16-assist season with KRC Genk.

Ancelotti acquiring Malinovskyi would be a hammer blow to Davies’ hopes of establishing himself under the Italian, having struggled to break into the Everton line-up this term with just one start from three Premier League appearances and being omitted from one matchday squad.

Davies had only featured for two top-flight minutes before starting at home to Brighton & Hove Albion with Allan out with a groin strain, too, while benched in the EFL Cup win over West Ham having featured for 118 minutes against lower league opposition in the earlier rounds.

The arrival of another midfielder would surely spell the end for Davies at Goodison Park.

Liverpool winger Harry Wilson has made an excellent start to life in the Championship with Cardiff City after joining on loan in the summer, and the Merseyside club should consider cashing in on the Welsh international whilst his stock is high.

After a fairly impressive loan spell with Bournemouth in the Premier League last season, in which he managed to contribute seven goals in 31 appearances for the Cherries, you wondered whether the 23-year-old would be given an opportunity in Jurgen Klopp’s side.

However, despite some interest from Premier League sides, he joined Cardiff City in the Championship for the 2020/21 season and he has made an excellent start to life with the Bluebirds.

The winger looks to have picked up where he left off in the Championship, having scored a superb 16 goals for Derby County during the 2018/19 season, as he has two goals for Neil Harris’ side in his first seven appearances in the second division (per WhoScored).

This has resulted in an impressive average rating of 7.04, rating him as Cardiff’s joint-third best player across the season so far.

He earned the praise of Harris following his performance in Cardiff’s recent 1-1 draw with Bournemouth, with the manager saying:

“Harry showed his class and quality and you can talk about his free-kicks and creativity, but it’s what he does without the ball as well which is important. I thought he was excellent.” (per FourFourTwo)

The Liverpool academy graduate is also a regular for his international side, having earned 17 caps for Ryan Giggs’ side, in which he has grabbed three goals (per Transfermarkt).

Therefore, you would imagine that should Liverpool be keen to sell the winger in January or next summer, they could get a decent fee for him, as he is currently valued at £14.4 million by Transfermarkt.

If his excellent form with Cardiff continues throughout the season, then the Reds certainly won’t be short of suitors, so receiving a decent fee could be a huge boost for Klopp, with the German manager having seemingly decided that Wilson isn’t good enough by sending him out on loan to the Championship.

O diretor adjunto de futebol do Timão, Eduardo Ferreira, confirmou as tratativas, mas manteve cautela ao falar sobre Willians.

– Willians é um dos que fazem parte da nossa lista de volantes que interessam, mas por enquanto não podemos dizer que tem algo avançado. Está sendo conversado – disse o dirigente.

وعلق ميدو عبر برنامج “ريمونتادا” على مستوى منتخب مصر: “نحتاج إلى التطور بشكل كبير حتى نتمكن من التأهل إلى كأس العالم، مستوى المنتخب مقلق وغير مطمئن إطلاقًا”.

وواصل ميدو حديثه عن المنافسين المحتملين للفراعنة في المرحلة النهائية من التصفيات: “عندما شاهدت منتخبات الجزائر وتونس والمغرب رأيت أنهم أفضل من منتخبنا بشكل كبير، حتى مع تقديم الجزائر أقل مستوياتها كانت أفضل من مصر”.

وأتم ميدو تصريحاته في هذا الصدد: ” المنتخب دفع ثمن قرار البدري بإلغاء المعسكر، الذي جاء لإراحة لاعبي الأهلي لخوض نهائي دوري أبطال إفريقيا، وقال ذلك في آخر حوار تلفزيوني له”.

وانتقد ميدو لقطة خروج محمد صلاح محاصر بـ”بودي جارد”: “مشهد غريب، هذا المشهد لم أره في الكرة المصرية أو العالمية، لم نشاهد ذلك مع ميسي ورنالدو ومارادونا، محمد صلاح ليس له ذنب في هذا المشهد بالتأكيد”.

واستمر ميدو: “كان هناك صورة لمحمد صلاح بعد مباراة لمنتخب مصر يوجد شخص من الجماهير في عز فيروس كورونا كان يريد أن يقبله، وهذه الصورة أزعجت مسؤولي ليفربول الإنجليزي”.

واختتم تصريحاته: “بعد الذي حدث من سوء تنظيم في هذه المباراة، كان يجب على محمد صلاح ووكيله بجانب ليفربول أن يطلبا تواجد حماية له داخل الملعب”.

ويأتي المنتخب المصري ضمن التصنيف الثاني في المرحلة النهائية من تصفيات كأس العالم بعدما حلت في المرتبة السادسة في تصنيف فيفا الأخير.

Davinson Sanchez is under pressure to perform when Tottenham Hotspur host Ludogorets in the Europa League on Thursday night, or risks finding himself on Jose Mourinho’s chopping block ahead of facing Chelsea.

Mourinho is set to hand Sanchez a rare chance to impress in north London after Belgian centre-back Toby Alderweireld was confirmed to be out for the next two to four weeks with a muscular injury sustained in Saturday’s win over Manchester City.

Alderweireld had partnered Eric Dier at the back in Tottenham’s last four Premier League fixtures with Mourinho opting to omit Sanchez from his 18-man matchday squad, but is forced to recall the Colombian against Ludogorets with £15million summer signing Joe Rodon ineligible in Europe.

Sanchez has been a regular for Spurs in their UEFA ties this term, with the 24-year-old starting all three Europa League qualifying fixtures and two Group Stage matches before being benched for this month’s 3-1 win at Ludogorets.

The former Ajax man will be hoping he can do enough at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday night to leave a positive impression on Mourinho, with defensive partner Dier confident that Rodon is ready to step in for his first start of the season if Sanchez falters.

“From what I can see, he’s very humble, very hard-working,” the England international said, via quotes by football.london. “From what I can see he has a fantastic mentality to want to work, to improve.

“From what I’ve seen [of him] around the training ground, all of those things have been fantastic, and I know the Welsh boys Ben [Davies] and Gareth [Bale] speak very highly of him. So excited for him to be able to help the team.

“Everyone in the team is ready to step in if called up. There’s a fantastic feeling within the squad. Everyone has put their individuality aside and is in this for something bigger than that, which is the collective of the team and the team winning games.”

Rodon has so far featured for just 10 minutes across all competitions since his summer transfer, with Mourinho calling on the Wales international to replace the injured Alderweireld against Man City after making his debut in the final seconds at Burnley.

But the former Swansea City star, who Jacks boss Steve Cooper described as “an outstanding player”, could be given a baptism of fire against Chelsea, should Sanchez falter on the continental stage again after being slammed for his role in last month’s defeat to Royal Antwerp.

“[Ben] Davies obviously makes a dreadful mistake,” Glenn Hoddle told BT Sport (29/10/20) after the game. “Sanchez has got to make sure the path of that ball cannot be played so that [Hugo] Lloris comes into it and that the finish is at an angle rather than all the angles opened up and [Lior] Refaelov finishes really well.”

Mourinho will need Sanchez to have put that mistake behind him if the Colombian is going to grab his chance with both hands on Thursday night, but being self-critical is an aspect former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino lauded the defender for during his time in charge.

“He’s so clever, very humble and he’s very open to learn,” the Argentine said, via quotes by The Guardian. “He’s a player that when you tell him something his reaction is to be open and be critical with himself. That is a massive skill for a player, when he’s so open to improve”.
