Mano Menezes não vai embora do Cruzeiro. Ainda. Pelo menos, é isso que se pode depreender da entrevista do treinador no programa “Bem, Amigos”, do Sportv, nesta segunda-feira (30). Mano confirmou que recebeu uma sondagem do Shandong Luneng, da China, mas negou que já tenha recebido uma proposta oficial do clube. Por isso, o técnico afirmou que não tem qualquer encontro marcado com a diretoria cruzeirense para definir o futuro. No entanto, revelou ter conversado com a direção sobre a procura dos asiáticos e preveniu o clube: vai ouvir a proposta, quando ela vier, e analisar a possibilidade de deixar a Toca da Raposa.

-Passei ontem (domingo, 29), depois do jogo, para a direção do Cruzeiro que tinha recebido uma sondagem. E que essa sondagem colocava a possibilidade de ser feita uma proposta oficial no começo da semana. Eu disse que ouviria a proposta. E, como eu sempre faço, disse que não ouviria a proposta enquanto o clube (Shandong Luneng) tivesse treinador. Essa foi a ordem dos fatos. Não acho correto eu ficar falando de sondagem, porque essa procura existe a todo momento para nós treinadores. Não acho legal, porque seria um desrespeito à torcida do Cruzeiro, que me acolheu maravilhosamente. Não tenho nenhuma reunião marcada com o Cruzeiro porque não existe nada objetivo. Com a possibilidade de saída em aberto, Mano Menezes colocou todos os pesos que atuam na balança entre permanecer e partir. E, aparentemente, o dinheiro e a estrutura atual do futebol brasileiro pesariam bastante para um possível adeus do técnico.

– O que se leva em consideração nesse momento são vários fatores. Não é só a parte econômica, mas também é, dependendo do quanto é. O futebol brasileiro está muito estranho. Há quatro meses eu estava sendo visto como quase um ex-técnico. Estavam me colocando como dinossauro. Eu estou só com 53 anos. Bastou eu sair daqui e fazer um curso e uma retomada de trabalho e parece que eu estou maravilhoso, que voltei a ser um técnico de ponta. He may have just been around for one season at Newcastle, but Mikel Merino showed the kind of flashes of promise that convinced Rafa Benitez to bring him in from Borussia Dortmund in 2017.

The Magpies activated a buy-out clause in the loan deal that was agreed to take him to St James’ Park, with Benitez waxing lyrical about his fellow Spaniard following confirmation of his permanent arrival.

He said: “I’m really pleased we have been able to bring Mikel to the club permanently. He has played very well since he joined us. He has settled in quickly, has a lot of quality on the ball and is keen to learn – that is a crucial part of his future development.

Sadly for the Magpies, Merino’s stay didn’t last for much longer. Some untimely injuries kept him out of action, and when he returned, the likes of Jonjo Shelvey and Mohamed Diame in particular seemed to flourish as a midfield partnership.

Towards the end of his time at the club, the purported release clause in the Spaniard’s contract seemed to become the topic of headlines, with Benitez reluctant to offer any assurances or guarantees that he would stay for the next season and beyond.

In the end, La Liga side Real Sociedad swooped in to take Merino off Newcastle’s hands, and his rise to prominence since then shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise for those back on Tyneside.

His creativity and passing seems to have thrived in a more technical Spanish league, with the 24-year-old now having picked up five caps for Spain’s senior side.

His performances have seen his value sky-rocket to an incredible £31.5m, and it is surely one of Benitez’s biggest regrets that he couldn’t somehow convince Merino to stay at Newcastle.

And in other news, Newcastle missed a trick by not signing this midfielder in the summer transfer window.

According to football.london correspondent Chris Watson, Jack Wilshere would seriously consider a move if Steven Gerrard’s side came calling. Wilshere has been heavily linked with a move to Ibrox after West Ham United tore up his contract on deadline day.

And the former Arsenal midfielder is keen to reunite with his old international teammate, although he will have to sit and wait while Rangers mull over a move. A source close to the situation told the Press Association: “Rangers would be an option for Jack if there had been any contact. So far, however, there hasn’t been any.

“Jack thinks Rangers are a great club. They tried to take him on loan when Walter Smith was in charge back in 2010 just as he was starting out at Arsenal but he ended up going to Bolton.”

It’s claimed that he wants to try something a little bit different, something not many other English players have ever experienced. And the Scottish Premiership certainly fits the profile.

Gerrard’s dream player?

Whilst Zungu may turn out to be a shrewd signing, it’s safe to say that Gerrard’s side still lack a playmaker, which is a signing he has wanted for so long. Indeed, the Rangers boss even described him as a “dominant” midfielder who “fits the profile of player that adds further strength and depth to our midfield” while his compatriot Benni McCarthy insisted he did not hesitate to recommend him to Rangers, saying “he can play as a defensive midfielder too because he is so good at cleaning up” in an interview with The Scottish Sun.

Although statistics aren’t everything, a look at the numbers seems to suggest that Zungu isn’t the attacking midfielder that Gerrard had in mind though, as he only scored a single goal in 26 Ligue 1 games last term, which is where Wilshere comes in.

Once lauded as a “special” talent by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, it is fair to say that he failed to hit the same heights at West Ham that he enjoyed in the 2013/14 season, where he scored three goals and supplied four assists in the Premier League for Arsenal, whilst he averaged 1.9 dribbles and 1.4 key passes per game, via WhoScored.

While Wilshere’s career has been plagued by persistent injury problems, he has show signs that seem to suggest that he is fully fit and raring to go, as he has been hitting the gym ahead of his next career move. He even said on social media that he had been often overlooked by David Moyes despite the fact he had been “fully fit for large periods of time.”

But his wage demands could still be a stumbling block for the Gers, so it remains to be seen if Ross Wilson will be willing to sanction a transfer. However, the £4.32m-rated ace would be a relatively-risk free signing, as Gerrard has already shown that he can carefully manage injury-prone players like Ryan Jack. If he can stay fit for a whole season, Wilshere may make a massive difference if Rangers are to regain their place at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, by adding plenty of creativity to the middle of the pitch.

يبلغ بارخوان من العمر 49 عامًا، وكان من ناشئي برشلونة منذ عام 1988، حتى تصعيده للفريق الأول في عام 1993، واستمر حتى 2002 قبل الانتقال إلى أتلتيكو مدريد واعتزاله في عام 2005.

Sunderland’s sensational piece of summer business to sign Bailey Wright on a free following his release from Bristol City has proven to be an even better deal than first thought, with the defender now being likened to Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk by Black Cats icon Kevin Phillips.

Wright initially joined Sunderland on a half-season loan in January and made five appearances for the North East giants before the campaign was cut short, only to return this summer and sign a two-year contract following the expiration of his Bristol City deal as CEO Jim Rodwell got a deal over the line.

The Australian has proven an integral aspect of manager Phil Parkinson’s side since, with Wright starting all six of the Black Cats’ League One fixtures and captaining the Stadium of Light natives against Peterborough and Charlton Athletic.

Parkinson has been more than happy with the form seen from Wright, too, noting ahead of this weekend’s clash with Portsmouth how the 28-year-old is offering Sunderland a leader he feared the Black Cats would not be able to sign permanently.

“Bailey was a great signing for us in the summer,” said Parkinson, via quotes by the Northern Echo. “He was a player I’d been speaking to all through lockdown, although we weren’t sure we would be able to get the deal done.

“Credit to the owner of the football club for enabling us to do that, and also to Bailey as well because he was realistic. He can see the potential at Sunderland, and enjoyed his loan time here.

“He’s a very good player. He’s a leader, he’s been a captain at Championship level, and he’s a great influence, on and off the pitch.”

The praise for Wright has kept on coming, too, with Sunderland icon Phillips taken back by what the centre-half has brought to his former home.

“He’s been a great signing,” Phillips told Football Insider. “I don’t know the player, but I just get the feeling that he’s a leader and a voice in the dressing room.

“Sometimes the manager can only say so much and then you want of your senior experience players to pipe up and put a few people in their place and give encouragement and be a leader. He seems like that.

“The stats just show what an important player he is. He’s almost to Sunderland what van Dijk is to Liverpool at the moment with those incredible stats.”

Van Dijk is among the world’s best centre-halves with no better proof than in the Dutchman being named the runner-up to Lionel Messi for the 2019 Ballon d’Or, having already been named the PFA Players’ Player of the Year, Premier League Player of the Season and UEFA Men’s Player of the Year.

For Wright to be compared to a player of that calibre shows what Sunderland were able to acquire this summer, while the leadership that Parkinson and Phillips both laud the Australian for will prove pivotal to any promotion push as the Stadium of Light natives strive to avoid a fourth campaign in the third-tier.

One of the standout aspects of Wright’s game that warrants the comparisons with van Dijk is that the Sunderland ace is yet to be dribbled past in a League One fixture this term, something the Liverpool star has frequently been praised for by using his pace and strength to devastating effect.

Liverpool’s £75million man restricted just eight players into being able to record successful dribbles against him over the last three full Premier League seasons, with no single player able to get the better of the Dutchman on multiple occasions.

Wright has also stood out this term with an average 5.8 duels won a game in the league, plus 5.7 clearances, 1.2 tackles, 0.7 interceptions and 0.8 shots, though missed his best chance to score his first Sunderland goal, per SofaScore.

وبالدقيقة 21، تمكن ليفربول من إحراز الهدف الثاني، بعد مجهود فردي من أرنولد إذ أرسل عرضية أرضية في العمق الـ ساديو ماني، والنجم السنغالي سدد بقوة من داخل منطقة الجزاء في الشباك.

وحصل المدافع البرازيلي، فيليبي مونتيرو على بطاقة حمراء مباشرة في الدقيقة 37، بعد تدخل متهور من الخلف على ساديو ماني، واعترض ثنائي أتلتيكو مدريد على الحكم، ليُشهر بطاقة صفراء في وجه سواريز وكوكي.

وكاد نجمنا المصري، محمد صلاح أن يُحرز هدفًا رائعًا في الدقيقة 41، بتسديدة يسارية رائعة من داخل منطقة الجزاء، ولكن الحارس السلوفيني يان أوبلاك تصدى للكرة.

الشوط الثاني

ليفربول استمر في الضغط خلال الشوط الثاني، من أجل قتل المباراة وإحراز هدف ثالث، وتمكن بالفعل جوتا من إحراز الهدف الثالث، بعد تمريرة بينية رائعة من ماتيب من وسط الملعب للبرتغالي الذي خطف الكرة وانفرد بالمرمى وسجل في شباك أوبلاك في الدقيقة 48.

وعاد حكم المباراة إلى تقنية الفيديو، للتأكد من صحة الهدف، وقام بإلغاء الهدف لوجود حالة تسلل على جوتا.

وأهدر صلاح هدف مُحقق بعدما انفرد بالمرمى وركض بسرعة لداخل منطقة الجزاء وسدد من داخل الـ”سكس يارد” ولكن أوبلاك تصدى للكرة.

كما أهدر الدولي الكاميروني، جويل ماتيب فرصة هدف مُحقق في الدقيقة 53، حيث تسلم المدافع الكاميروني كرة داخل منطقة الجزاء وسط غفلة دفاعية من لاعبي أتلتيكو مدريد ولكن مدافع ليفربول سدد بجانب القائم الأيسر.

وسجل الأوروجوياني لويس سواريز هدفًا لـ أتلتيكو مدريد في الدقيقة 57 بعد تسديدة قوية رائعة، ولكن الحكم ألغى الهدف بعد العودة إلى الـVAR وألغى الهدف لوجود تسلل على مُهاجم الأتلتي.
