Key Information about The Valley

Charlton Athletic Football Club have historically played all of their home matches at The Valley since it opened back in 1919.

The 27,111 all-seater stadium is located South East London and comprises four stands; the Covered End, the Jimmy Seed Stand, and the East and West Stands.

A history of The Valley

Following the First World War, the Addicks thought it was the best time to move to a new ground that could host their home matches. The Valley formed a natural bowl; however, there was not enough space to play football on a subtable pitch, therefore many volunteers helped to dig out what would become the famous Valley pitch. Amongst the volunteers was the grandfather of future Chartloton legend Brian Kinsey, and the new turf was finally ready in time for the first-ever game at the ground on 13 September 1919.

The first match was between Summerstown as the Addicks came out 2-0 winners and subsequently won election to the Kent League ahead of October. At the time, The Valley was one of the largest Football League grounds in the UK, and its highest maximum capacity sat at 75,000. It was unfortunate for Charlton, that their long-awaited absence from the top flight of English football prevented them from commencing needed redevelopment of The Valley as budgets were tight.

The club’s debts almost went too far in the early 1980s, though The Valley remained under the ownership of the club’s former owner. Despite this, Charlton were unable to finance the improvements needed in order to meet new safety requirements for fans, and shortly after the start of the 1985-86 season, the Addicks left The Valley, as they made an agreement with Crystal Palace to ground share at Selhurst Park. This was the first official ground-sharing arrangement in the Football League in 36 years.

In 1991, work began on renovating The Valley after approval was gained from the Greenwich Borough Council. During this time, Charlton moved on to ground share with West Ham United at Upton Park for one season, and they moved back to their old home during the 1992-93 season with many redevelopments of stands and capacity.

The club had many ambitions to further expand The Valley during their seven-year stay in the Premier League from the start of the millennium, though these plans were hindered by their relegation from the top flight in 2007, and from the Championship two years later. The all-time record attendance at The Valley stands at just over 75,000 from an FA Cup Fifth Round tie against Aston Villa back in 1938.

Adult season tickets for The Valley range from £260-575 depending on which seating zone is chosen. Single adult matchday tickets are priced from £23-37, over-65/under-21s from £21-33, students from £18, under-18s from £10, and under-11s go free.

O jogo de volta entre Bahia e Santa Cruz será no próximo domingo, dia 17. O duelo será na Arena Fonte Nova, às 16h. A outra semi da Copa do Nordeste é entre Sport e Campinense, que fazem o primeiro jogo nesta quinta-feira.

Le10Sport are reporting that Arsenal have their eyes on a plethora of new attacking options such as Raul Jimenez, Moussa Dembele, Memphis Depay and most interestingly Allan Saint-Maximin.

Jimenez is apparently their top priority, but if they do end up landing Saint-Maximin, you have to wonder if that’s going to work.

Square peg, round hole

Now, we’re not saying that the Newcastle winger isn’t a fantastic player, his hat-trick of assists earlier this month proved that he’s dangerous when he’s on form, but we just can’t see how he replaces Aubameyang.

The Gabonese forward’s game is all about goals, he’s hit 50 Premier League goals quicker than any other Arsenal player while also picking up a Golden Boot last season, and Saint-Maximin just doesn’t have that type of end product.

With just three league goals to his name this term, it would take around 17 seasons for him to hit 50 Premier League strikes if he continues at this rate, in comparison, Aubameyang did it in just two and a half terms.

Saint-Maximin would certainly add something to Arsenal’s side, he’s the second-most proficient dribbler in the Premier League and he’s incredibly exciting to watch, but you can’t help but feel they’d be making a grave error if he was signed as Aubameyang’s replacement.

صحيفة “سبورت” الكتالونية في تقرير لها اليوم الخميس ذكرت أن الوضع الرياضي السيء لبرشلونة، يجعل النادي يفكر بالفعل في التعاقدات المُحتملة في الشتاء والصيف المقبلين.

وقالت الصحيفة إن برشلونة بسبب الأزمة الاقتصادية يتابع اللاعبين الذين تنتهي عقودهم في 30 يونيو 2022، أحدهم بوجبا، حيث تأكدت الصحيفة من مصادر موثوقة من النادي أنه هدف حقيقي للعام المُقبل.

وأشارت الصحيفة إلى أن مماطلة بوجبا في التجديد مع مانشستر يونايتد مُنذ عامين، تجعل هناك تفاؤل داخل النادي الكتالوني حول إمكانية التعاقد معه بعد نهاية عقده.

وأوضحت الصحيفة أن إدارة برشلونة تخشى أن يقوم مينو رايولا، وكيل أعمال بوجبا، بإجراء مزاد على اللاعب، حتى يتمكن من الحصول على عمولة كبيرة ليسهل انتقاله لنادٍ آخر، وأن يضمن أعلى لاعب راتب سنوي للنجم الفرنسي.

بوجبا ليس هدفًا لنادي برشلونة فقط، بل ترغب أندية أوروبية أخرى في التعاقد معه، حيث يتواجد على رادار ريال مدريد وباريس سان جيرمان.

According to Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol, Lyon winger Bertrand Traore is a wanted man with at least four Premier League teams keen on his services, including the Toffees.

It’s claimed that the French outfit are prepared to sell the 24-year-old, three years after paying Chelsea £9m.

Whilst it remains to be seen how much Traore would cost, Transfermarkt value him at just over £8.5m and during the January transfer window, AFC Bournemouth were mooted with a €35m (£31.5m) swoop for him as per Foot Mercato, via GFFN.

Forget Soares

The Merseysiders had been tipped to sign Gremio winger Everton Soares for quite some time, but the Brazilian appears to be closing in on a move to Benfica in a €20m (£18m) move.

It’s no secret that Carlo Ancelotti needs to bolster his wide department after a sub-par showing across the board. Big-money £34m signing Alex Iwobi scored one strike all season in the PL whilst the rest combined for a paltry five goals and five assists.

Some at Goodison Park may recognise Traore’s name as he struggled to break into Chelsea’s first-team – he made 16 senior appearances, scoring four times before being cast off as a flop to Lyon.

It’s in Ligue 1 where he’s found his feet. In the 24-year-old’s first two seasons at the club, he provided 25 goals and eight assists, recording a best average of 2.6 shots, 1.7 dribbles and 0.8 key passes during his maiden campaign, via WhoScored.

Evidently, he’s a player who likes to put himself about in front of the onion bag, something that’s been lacking in Merseyside this year.

Former Blues boss Guus Hiddink has previously labelled Traore “very clever” and “ambitious” whilst his ex-teammate Papy Djilobodji claimed the Burkina Faso international is “technically he is very, very good: with his feints, he is very hard to stop.”

He’d be the perfect solution to the width issue at the Toffees, if the price is right, then Marcel Brands should absolutely pull out all the stops to clinch him this summer.

It doesn’t seem like his agent Mino Raiolo will take down the tweet, but @this_is_MUFC has made a backup copy just in case.

The French midfielder’s future at Old Trafford has seemed far from certain ever since he re-joined the Red Devils for a then world-record fee worth £89m from Italian champions Juventus in 2016.

Both his old club and Real Madrid have been heavily linked to the 69-cap France international, but Fabrizio Romano recently revealed he wants to sign a new deal with Man United.

His contract is set to expire inÂ2021, with the option to add another year, amid renewed interest from Zinedine Zidane’s side.

It is understood that relations between the Red Devils and Raiola are improving, while United are convinced they can keep him at the club fore the foreseeable future.

However, fans could be left disappointed as the tweet may be about him dropping a new line of merchandise instead.

German sportswear company Puma tweeted the same message, including a seven-second clip of a player wearing some new boots.

Pogba has dropped plenty of hints about his future in the past, although a move has failed to materialise so far.

His cryptic post could have no connection to a new contract and may be part of a sponsorship instead.

However, he is still an official Adidas athlete, but this might be about to change. Puma are Manchester City’s £650m kit sponsor, so this may cause an uproar if it turns out to be the case. The 27-year-old is close friends with Romelu Lukaku and Antoine Griezmann, who are part of Puma’s stable, so they may have had a part to play in convincing him to sign a new deal.

Nevertheless, Solskjaer remains confident the club can reach an agreement with Raiola in the summer.

And the manager believes he could be the man to take United to the next level by claiming their first piece of silverware this season.
