وصف هاري ماجواير قائد فريق مانشستر يونايتد هزيمتهم مساء أمس أمام باريس سان جيرمان في دوري أبطال أوروبا، بالمخيب للآمال.

وخسر الشياطين الحمر بثلاثة أهداف مقابل هدف، في الجولة الخامسة من دور المجموعات في الأولد ترافورد.

وقال ماجواير، في تصريحات نشرتها شبكة “بي بي سي” العالمية: “ليلة مخيبة للآمال، أردنا الفوز في المباراة، وفوزنا بصدارة المجموعة، مباريات كرة القدم تُحدد من خلال التفاصيل الدقيقة”.

وأضاف: “كان لدينا فرص أفضل، أشعر بأننا كنا نستحق شيئًا في تلك المباراة، عليك أن تغامر بفرصك ولا تستقبل أهدافًا سهلة، لقد سجلا هدفين بطريقة غير منظمة، كرة مرتدة ويتغير اتجاهها في منطقة الجزاء”.

وواصل: “مازلنا نسيطر على فرصتنا في التأهل إلى دور الـ16”.

وتابع: “طرد فريد؟ من الغريب أن يحصل على بطاقة صفراء في الشوط الأول، إنها إما بطاقة حمراء أو لا شيء، أما البطاقة الصفراء في الشوط الثاني فهي غير مستحقة، لقد حصل على الكرة، كنت على بعد ياردتين مما حدث، وكان المساعد على بعد خمس ياردات، كنت الأقرب ورأيت كل شيء”.

علّق جورجينيو فينالدوم لاعب فريق ليفربول على فوزهم اليوم أمام ولفرهامبتون في بطولة الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.

وفاز ليفربول بأربعة أهداف دون رد، في الجولة الحادية عشر من البطولة في ملعب الأنفيلد.

وشهدت المباراة أداءً رائعًا من فينالدوم الذي سجل الهدف الثاني بطريقة رائعة للغاية.

وقال فينالدوم، في تصريحات نشرتها شبكة “بي بي سي” العالمية: “بالطبع أعتقد أن وجود الجماهير في المدرجات يساعدنا، هم يساعدوننا على زيادة مقدار الأداء، ويشجعوننا ويدعموننا”.

وأضاف الهولندي: “يعلم الجميع في آنفيلد أن المشجعين يقاتلون من أجل الفريق، إنه لأمر رائع، لقد كنت متحمسًا للغاية منذ أن علمت بخبر السماح بحضور الجماهير”.

وواصل: “لا أريد أن أقول أننا قدمنا أداء البطل اليوم لأننا بحاجة إلى تقديم هذا الأداء كل أسبوع، لقد تحلينا بالصبر، كان أسلوبنا في اللعب جيدًا، وسجلنا أهدافًا جيدة”.

واستكمل: “ساعدت الجماهير في الأداء كثيرًا لأنهم هتفوا أثناء المباراة، قبل السماح بحضورهم كنا نتلقى الدعم فقط من مقاعد البدلاء”.

According to The Mirror, Manchester United are looking to make Sean Longstaff their second signing of the summer after Daniel James and are confident of bringing the Newcastle midfielder in.

What’s the word?

Since breaking onto the scene late last year, Longstaff has enjoyed a meteoric rise at St James’ Park, so much so that some of the biggest sides in England have kept their eyes on his development.

The Mirror report that United are ‘confident’ of signing Longstaff in a £25m deal and that the uncertainty surrounding the Magpies over their takeover and managerial situation are not likely to affect their pursuit of the midfielder.

The heir to Michael Carrick’s throne

When Michael Carrick joined United from rivals Tottenham back in the summer of 2016, it was lauded as a real coup for the Red Devils. The England international was slightly different to his more illustrious midfield contemporaries like Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard and offered more of a shield to his defence and great passing from deep.

Such was Carrick’s thinking for the game that former United boss Louis van Gaal labelled him as his ‘trainer coach during the game’. In his short time in English football’s top-flight, Longstaff has shown a willingness to be his side’s main port of call in midfield registering an impressive 32.6 passes per game and a pass completion rate of over 80%.

Inevitably, comparisons have been drawn between Longstaff and Carrick but the former’s manager at Newcastle Rafael Benitez seemed to suggest that his midfielder could even eclipse the five-time Premier League winner. He said (via The Guardian): “I can see that (the Carrick likeness). But, at this stage, Sean has more mobility and stamina. Certainly he has the technique and he can use both feet as well.”

Whilst simply claiming United’s decline in the past couple of seasons has tied in with Carrick transitioning into the backroom staff might be a bit of a stretch, there can be no doubting that the Red Devils have missed an authoritative and calming presence in midfield. At 21, Longstaff has all the potential in the world to fill those Carrick-shaped shoes at Old Trafford.

وقال هانسن في المنطقة المختلطة لمباراة فريقه ضد البحرين: “عدم حضور الجماهير للمباريات كان القرار السليم في ظل فيروس كورونا”.

وأوضح “حتى الآن، الأمور على ما يرام في الفندق، أتفهم أنه من الصعب السيطرة على تلك الأمور. نبقى في الدور الخاص بنا ولا نجازف، ونستمتع بوقتنا معا”.

وعن الفوز ضد البحرين 34-20 قال هانسن: “قمنا بعمل جيد، سيطرنا بشكل جيد وكان يوما جيدا بالنسبة لنا”.

وشدد: “أظن أننا في مستوى عال، هناك ضغط علينا كوننا قادمين للحفاظ على اللقب لكن هناك ستة فرق يمكنها المنافسة. مصر تقدم أداء رائعا حتى في غياب الجمهور، وكذلك النرويج وإسبانيا وكرواتيا وسلوفينيا وألمانيا والسويد. لو لم نكن في 100% من جاهزيتنا، سنعاني”.

Scott Hogan hasn’t enjoyed the best of times since arriving at Villa Park. The 27-year-old’s spell at Aston Villa has been troublesome to say the least and he’s found the net just ten times in 61 games.

However, his stay at the club could now be coming to an end after the print edition of The Mirror (19/06, page 48), claimed that Bristol City are interested in signing the forward.

Taking to Twitter after seeing the news, Villa fans appeared to be delighted that he could be set to exit this summer.

One fan joked that they could arrange a lift for him to move there whilst another claimed they’d drive him to Bristol City themselves.

A further supporter made reference to Adam Webster, who is a £12m target for Villa, per The Sun. They suggested that the Villans should do a swap deal involving both him and Hogan.

The attacker signed for the Midlands outfit back in 2017 for £12m after finding himself in scintillating form for Brentford, scoring 21 in 36 matches.

However, he’s failed to ever replicate that since moving clubs.

وأضاف: “لا أستطيع فهم قاعدة التسلل”.

Jonathan Kodjia scored the only goal of the match as Ivory Coast recorded a 1-0 win over South Africa in their Africa Cup of Nations Group D opener on Monday.

Indeed, the Aston Villa forward struck in the 64th minute of the contest – collecting a pass from former Leeds United attacker Max Gradel before managing to squeeze the ball into the back of the net.

Kodjia only managed nine goals in 39 Championship appearances for Villa last term, with Tammy Abraham very much the first choice in the final third of the field.

The 29-year-old will be hoping to be given the chance to prove his worth in the Premier League.

However, it would not be a surprise to see him leave Villa Park this summer following the arrival of Wesley Moraes from Club Brugge.

After a disappointing campaign by his standards, it’s been little surprise to see Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku seemingly on his way out of Old Trafford this summer.

Having scored just 15 goals in 45 appearances across all competitions, the Belgian may have played his final game for the club last season and reports in recent weeks had suggested Serie A giants Inter are interested in his services.

Now, in an update from ESPN, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are expected to reject the Nerazzurri’s opening offer of a two-year loan deal worth £9m with an obligation to buy at £53.7m.

The latest news saw United fans take to Twitter and many were relieved that the club were not planning on accepting such a low offer for the forward.

Some labelled Inter’s offer as being “terrible” and pointed back to the side’s negotiation tactics when United were interested in signing Ivan Perisic as a marker of how the Red Devils should play the “hard game” with them.

A few fans of the Manchester side however felt the club needed to sign a replacement for Lukaku before letting the 26-year-old go and urged United not to sell him unless the offer was right.

Liverpool have been offered the chance to sign Marco Asensio from Real Madrid but the Spanish club want Sadio Mane in exchange, per the Daily Express.

What’s the word?

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is said to be a big fan of the Spain international, who the Express claim has an £85m asking price.

As such, Real could be set to propose a massive swap deal that would see Asensio move to Anfield and Mane head to Madrid.

Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane is said to admire the Senegal international’s talents as he looks to overhaul his squad.

And letting Mane leave, the Express report, could allow Liverpool to then swoop for Nicolas Pepe, the Lille winger who is also being courted by PSG.

A crazy deal

There are a lot of moving parts in this deal but one feels Liverpool would be absolutely crazy to cash in on a player of Mane’s quality, even if it is for Asensio.

Just last season, he scored 26 goals in all competitions, along with registering five assists.

He has formed an exceptional partnership with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino; why would Klopp throw that away for a player who has absolutely no experience in the Premier League?

On top of that, while Asensio has shown his talents on occasion with simply sublime long-range goals, last season was a poor one for him – managing just a single goal in La Liga.

The idea of Liverpool swapping a forward in such incredible form, who has already proved he can master Klopp’s system, for another in such lacklustre form verges upon laughable.

It simply doesn’t make sense, even from a Real Madrid perspective given that they have already signed Eden Hazard from Chelsea this summer.

Although Mane has played as a right winger and a supporting striker before, the left flank saw him produce Golden Boot-winning form in the Premier League last season, but that’s also Hazard’s best position – drifting into more central areas on his stronger right foot. Are Real Madrid really going to sign two top-quality left wingers in the same transfer window?

From top to bottom, there’s no logic whatsoever in this deal.
