Batter insists he believes in ‘clean sport’ after traces of banned substance found in sample

Laurie Evans, the Surrey and Manchester Originals batter, has denied taking a prohibited substance during this year’s edition of the Hundred, after returning a positive result during a routine anti-doping test.Evans, 35, has been one of the most sought-after English batters on the T20 circuit in recent seasons, with his stand-out performances in 2022 including a matchwinning 76 not out from 41 balls for Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash final against Sydney Sixers, and 72 from 34 balls to defeat London Spirit in the Hundred Eliminator at the Ageas Bowl.On Tuesday, Scorchers announced they had terminated their deal with him for the 2022-23 BBL that starts in the middle of December.”The club is disappointed to learn of Evans’ positive anti-doping test result relating to a sample provided in August 2022,” Scorchers said in a statement.”Due to the circumstances the Scorchers, and Laurie and his management have decided to mutually terminate his contract for the 2022-23 Big Bash League season. The club will explore its options to source a replacement player for the tournament.”It was during his stint with the Originals that Evans underwent a routine anti-doping test, since which he has strenuously denied any wrongdoing in a statement issued on his behalf by the Professional Cricketers’ Association.”I was shocked to be told that an anti-doping sample I provided in August 2022 tested positive for trace amounts of a banned substance,” Evans said through the PCA.”I believe passionately in clean sport and I have never taken any banned substances. You can see in Casemiro’s three years at the club, the gradual decline in all areas. The only metric Casemiro ranks higher in this season than either of his previous two seasons is tackles per 90, and that is with far fewer minutes played, slightly skewing the data.

It has gotten to the point where Casemiro’s legs are seemingly gone, the United system is becoming more and more reliant on ground covering and physical qualities, and content creator Mark Goldbridge has now labelled the Brazilian a “total waste of time”, following the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester United clearly need to get rid of players before they can buy, and not only getting the right profile but also the right mentality of players will be key if the Red Devils want to have any chance of returning to the top.

Começando por quem chega: Everton Cebolinha. Contratação midiática e rápido preenchimento de uma lacuna com a lesão de Bruno Henrique, o ex-Grêmio não viveu seus melhores dias na última temporada pelo Benfica. Já se passaram 27 jogos desde a última assistência do brasileiro. O adversário era o Paços de Ferreira e o passe para o gol de Rafa Silva surgiu de um lance forçado após o zagueiro saltar e pressionar o Everton.

Já o último gol de Cebolinha foi feito há 14 jogos, no começo de fevereiro, contra o Tondela. Gol que nos acostumamos a ver no Grêmio, arrastando para cima da zaga, tabelando com o pivô e atacando o espaço dentro da área. O que era rotina virou lampejo na última temporada.

A aposta é que Cebolinha reviva o futebol que o levou à Seleção e não o apresentado em sua segunda temporada em Portugal. Por mais que o Benfica tivesse seus desequilíbrios, o time foi longe na Champions League, e Darwin Nuñez, seu companheiro de time, realizou boas exibições e fechou com o Liverpool.

Sem bola, em organização defensiva, Everton Cebolinha baixava na linha dos volantes e chegava a dobrar a marcação com Sandro Cruz, lateral-esquerdo do Benfica. Ponto para ele. O Flamengo, e qualquer outro time, precisa de jogadores que entreguem intensidade atacando e defendendo.

E Cebolinha chega em um momento de queda defensiva do Rubro-Negro. Dá para perceber a olho nu e as métricas não mentem. A amostragem dos jogos com Dorival Jr. é pequena, mas indica uma clara tendência de diminuição do poder de marcação. Marcar não é cercar, marcar não é balançar o time para o lado da jogada. Marcar é colocar a mão no adversário e tentar tocar na bola. São os duelos defensivos.

O Flamengo tem uma média de 70 duelos defensivos por jogo, marca deixada em 2022 por Paulo Sousa. Na gestão de Dorival Jr. no Brasileirão, o Flamengo duelou 49 vezes contra o Atlético-MG (no 2 x 0) e 60 contra Cuiabá e Internacional. Bom, se as interceptações (interceptar é retomar a posse sem o duelo físico) aumentassem não haveria problema, mas as interceptações também caíram. Contando com os jogos de Paulo Sousa, o Flamengo intercepta, em média, 34 vezes por partida. A gestão Dorival, em seus três jogos pelo Brasileiro, não chegou na média em nenhum deles.

E há piora na contagem de Passes Permitidos por Ação Defensiva (PPDA, em inglês, nos sites de análise). O português entregou um time que deixava o adversário trocar, em média, pouco mais de 7 passes. O Fla de Dorival Jr. viu (a expressão é essa) o Galo e o Cuiabá trocarem mais de 11 passes em média. Contra o Internacional, o Flamengo pressionou bem, e o Colorado trocou pouco mais de 5 passes por posse, mas havia uma condição no jogo para isso acontecer: o Flamengo já perdia por 2 a 0 na metade do primeiro tempo.

Para ilustrar com uma situação de jogo, o gol de Nacho Fernandez, na 13ª rodada do Brasileirão, se dá depois que Mariano troca o corredor de ataque com o Flamengo todo organizado na frente de sua área. Mesmo organizada, a defesa rubro-negra não impede e nem dificulta a troca de 9 passes até o primeiro gol do Galo. Se a média fosse mantida, diminuiriam as chances desse tipo de jogada resultar em gol do adversário.

Por fim, o posicionamento de Arrascaeta. Jogador perigosíssimo no terço final de campo, criativo, assistente e bom finalizador, tem se postado como um meia, um interior, em boa parte dos jogos com Dorival Jr. Parece estar mais pela intermediária para distribuir e organizar o jogo, em posições mais baixas que Vitinho e Everton Ribeiro, por exemplo.

Arrasca não é um exímio organizador, não é da posição de Gerson ou Renato Augusto. O uruguaio é letal próximo ao centroavante, ou aberto, para escapar da marcação próxima dos volantes adversários e centralizar conduzindo a bola. Não que o jogador não possa ajudar em outra função e posição, mas a pequena amostra aponta para outra direção.

O vídeo no início da coluna esmiúça um pouco mais os três tópicos acima. Semprerelembrando que a amostragem é pequena, então é melhor classificarmos como tendência do que efetivamente uma mudança. Vale tanto para o posicionamento do jogador quanto para os números ruins apresentados pela defesa do time.

Liverpool currently have an 11-point lead over Arsenal in second place, but with the Gunners facing Nottingham Forest, it is a chance for Arne Slot’s side to extend that lead.

Liverpool to send scouts to watch £25m Ajax star

As Slot and co. focus on the upcoming games, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool chiefs are set to send scouts to watch Ajax defender Jorrel Hato ahead of the summer transfer window opening.

Romano states that the Reds are tracking the versatile defender, who can play left-back or centre-back and was said to be valued at £25 million in January. He goes on to say that Liverpool scouts are ready to watch Hato soon, who has been dubbed “special” by analyst Ben Mattinson.

Speaking on his YouTube channel (relayed by Liverpool World), Romano said: “Liverpool are looking at an important centre-back and will sign an important centre-back. Liverpool love to invest in a young player, and not only Huijsen, but also Hato is being monitored by Liverpool.

“I’m told Liverpool are planning, with their scouting department, two or three missions in the Netherlands to follow Hato closely and his progress and will assess what they want to do.

Football League World report that Sheffield United have taken Partick Thistle youngster Jack Braid on trial as they take a closer look at the 16-year-old forward, who has impressed at youth level this campaign.

Scottish clubs are becoming a priority for scouts south of the border due to the impact of Brexit, which has limited UK-based sides’ ability to acquire foreign players until they turn 18.

Likely to come in at Under-18 level should he impress Sheffield United Academy coaches, there are similarities between Braid’s potential move and the arrival of Ryan One from Hamilton Academical in 2023.

Braid wouldn’t be someone supporters will expect to star for the first-team any time soon. However, being able to build for the long-term with smart acquisitions at youth level would represent a degree of forward thinking.

وقال الغندور في تصريحات عبر قناة “المحور”: “النادي الأهلي كان يواجه فريقًا أقل منه في المستوى، قدم شوطًا أول جيدًا، ليس معنى ذلك أن الأهلي (كسر الدنيا)، لأنه يواجه فريقًا أقل منه، لذلك الطبيعي والمنطقي أن تكون أفضل منه بكثير”.

وتابع: “إنتر ميامي فريق مهلهل، عشوائي، يترك مساحات ولا يضغط، ويعتمد على نجومية لاعبين كبروا في السن، ونجومية لاعب هو الأفضل في التاريخ، ليونيل ميسي، تشعر وكأن ميسي يلعب بأريحية وكأنه في مباراة ودية، ولويس سواريز ليس موجوداً أساسًا، جوردي ألبا مُصاب، وبوسكيتس منذ أن كان لاعبًا في برشلونة وهو بطيء، لكن كان معه فريق كبير ولا يفقد الكرة بسهولة، أما في إنتر ميامي فليس معه فريق”.

وأضاف: “إنتر ميامي تقريبًا سابع الدوري الأمريكي، تواصلت مع لاعبين كرة سابقين عاشوا في أمريكا، قالوا لي إنه فريق عادي جدًا، تأسس عام 2018، وقبل ذلك النصر السعودي فاز عليه 5-0 في مباراة ودية، وآخر 10 مباريات له خسر 5 وتعادل اثنتين، فريق عادي جدًا وأقل من العادي”.

وأوضح: “أمس الأهلي شعر أنه يلعب مباراة من 45 دقيقة، فجعل اللاعبين يتراجعون ويُغلقون المساحات، ثم يلعبون بقوة على ميسي وسواريز، وينطلقون من الدفاع للهجوم ويهدرون أهدافًا بالجملة، ثم فوجئنا بعد 12 دقيقة بإصابة إمام عاشور”.

وأتم: “الجميع أعتقد أن بديل إمام عاشور هو أفشة، ففوجئنا أن زيزو هو من شارك بديلًا، وكانت مفاجأة لأن زيزو منذ 3 أشهر وهو في البيت لا يتدرب، وهذا تسبب في ضغينة بين لاعبي الكرة الذين يلعبون منذ أشهر وحصلوا على الدوري ووصلوا لكأس العالم، طبيعي اللاعبون يقولون لم يتدرب إلا مباراتين وشارك ونحن جالسين، وهذا ما جعل بن شرقي جالس ولم يُجري الإحماء، المدرب لم يفكر فيه ولم يفكر في الشحات وأفشة وطاهر، وفكر في زيزو، بالتأكيد اللاعبون كانوا منزعجين”.
